Skincare I Swear By as a Person With Super Dry Skin

If you’re in your 20s like me and constantly dealing with dryness, dullness, dehydration, and occasional acne, you’re not alone. The struggle is real, and I know firsthand how it can leave you feeling frustrated. From flakiness and tightness to dullness and discomfort, dry skin can truly shatter your confidence. But do not worry as in this blog post, I’ll share some of the products I swear by as a person with super dry skin.

However, before unveiling the game changing products that saved my dry, cracking skin, let’s understand what is dry skin and look into some do’s and don’ts for dry skin.

What is dry Skin?

Dry skin is a common skin condition that is caused due to lack of moisture or oil on the outer layer of the skin. Dry skin often feels tight, rough, flaky, itchy, etc. It may be a result of various factors like environmental conditions, genetics, harsh skincare products, age and even hormonal changes.

Do’s & Don’ts For Dry Skin

Dos for Dry Skin

Use gentle cleanser- Use a gentle cleanser for washing your face. Gentle does not mean it is not effective!

Hydration is Key/ layer toners- Well, definitely hydrating your skin will make you look super plum and supple. Layer toners three to four times or even up to seven times!

Moisturizer is a must- Moisturizer helps lock in moisture and keeps the skin hydrated. It is important that you moisturise. For dry skin, go for moisturizers that have a thick texture. Look for ingredients like ceramide, peptide, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, glycerin, shea butter, etc.

Don’t forget sunscreen- Not using a sunscreen can further damage your skin barrier and cause dryness and redness. Therefore, always apply sunscreen and don’t forget to reapply after every two to three hours.

Don’ts for Dry Skin

Do not over cleanse your face– Washing your face is a necessity, however limit it to only once a day. Like you can wash your face at night and skip this step in the morning routine.

Stop long hot showers– Taking hot and long showers can strip your skin and damage your barrier. Take showers with warm water instead for 10 minutes.

Do not wipe your face- Do not wipe your face harshly after cleansing. Instead, pad it dry gently with a clean towel.

Beware of Over-Exfoliating- Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and increases skin turnover but be mindful of overdoing it as it will damage your skin barrier and further dry it out.

Products I swear by (Dry Skin)

As a dry skin girlie, I’ve experimented with numerous products over the years.
After so much trial and error I have chosen the best of the best for my dry skin. Here are some of my current personal favourites:

Cleanser:

Isntree Green Tea Fresh Cleanser

Formulated with green tea extract, it not only cleanses but also soothes and nourishes my skin. It effectively removes impurities and dead skin cells and does not cause any irritation. It has a subtle, refreshing scent and its rich, creamy texture feels like a burst of moisture on my skin, never leaving it feeling tight or stripped.

Exfoliator:

COSRX AHA / BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner

The COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner is a mild yet an effective exfoliator. It gently exfoliates dead skin cells without causing irritation, leaving my skin smoother and softer.

Toner:

Dear Klairs Fundamental Ampoule Mist

This mist is a hydrating powerhouse that I can’t live without. Quite lightweight and non-sticky, the Dear Klairs Fundamental Ampoule Mist is packed with ingredients like green tea extract, rice extract, cucumbers, okra, ceramide, etc., which gives intensive hydration and moisturization to the skin, while also giving antioxidant benefits.

Serum:

Cosrx Propolis Light Ampoule

The Cosrx Propolis Light Ampoule has propolis extract as the star ingredient. Propolis is known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, thus making it an amazing ingredient for fighting dry, acne prone skin. It has a lightweight, non-greasy texture that effortlessly sinks into the skin, leaving skin super hydrated and radiant!

Moisturizer:

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Moist Cream

Sunscreen:

Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 + PA ++

I love this sunscreen because it not only provides excellent sun protection but also provides perfect moisturization to my skin. The key ingredient, aloe vera, offers a soothing and hydrating sensation upon application. The texture is lightweight and doesn’t leave any greasy residue. With SPF50 and PA++ rating, it protects the skin from harmful UV rays and prevents further moisture loss.

Conclusion

It is not easy but also easy to deal with dry skin, if you just listen to your skin! Understand your skin and follow a consistent skin care routine as without consistency you will not achieve the desired result. Also remember that every skin is unique so what’s good for my skin might not be suitable for your skin. Therefore you can follow the simple do’s and don’ts for dry skin and also experiment with products (not to the extent of damaging it, ofcourse) as it is only through trial and error that you will be able to find your holy grail product.
